O.Henry Classics and Central Park

A brand new edition of O.Henry 100 Selected Stories published by Wordsworth features 'Central Park West' by Peter Graham on the front cover - here is a look at the progress of the watercolour on location in New York

Here I am on the 30th floor of a New York apartment block painting the scene where Central Park West meets Columbus Circle at the southern edge of Central Park- I am using large scale 'Arches' handmade paper, a myriad of brushes and Winsor & Newton watercolours to capture the moment in time.

There is nothing I like more than to reach into the past - I am a great fan of American writers of the early 20th century like Thurber and O.Henry. The O. Henry fables give such an insight into the way America functioned: the fads and fashions of a bygone era. The iconic architecture of New York played an important part of this - Peter Graham
