I wanted to convey the majesty of New York in autumn. This view is from the south east towards the distinguished run of apartment blocks of The Sam Remo, Dakota and Majestic buildings skirting west Central Park.

The focus of 'The Upper West Side' is the twin spires of The San Remo Building (designed by Emery Roth 1929) reminiscent of Liverpool’s Royal Liver Building ( Walter Aubrey Thomas 1908)

San Remo residents have included Rita Hayworth, Steven Spielberg, Bono, Mick Jagger, Demi Moore, Steve Jobs and Dustin Hoffman. The Dakota Building (Henry Janeway Hardenbergh 1884) was home to Lauren Bacall, Boris Karloff and John Lennon to name but a few.. '

En Plein Air paintings from the Scottish Isles by Peter Graham ROI RSW

Preparing for the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition I felt it was time to return with my  easel to Argyll and the Inner Hebrides on the North West Coast of Scotland  - My  works going on show with the ROI  this year were painted en plein air  on the most beautiful beaches.  It is not hard to find inspiration on the Isle of Iona- it is such a bracing place to paint  and without doubt life affirming!
