Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) Annual Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London

The ROI Annual Exhibition was a resounding  success this year and was held exclusively online. Dedicated collectors made the show exceed all our expectations.

With over 1200 views The ROI  online tour, presented from my studio, has reached a much wider audience than actually running the tour in the gallery. Thank you for all the wonderful responses. The virtual tour of paintings can still be viewed online at the Mall Galleries website, viewed here.

To all those oil painters around the world keep up the good work and please submit to the ROI  next time round  - I look forward to seeing the results!

Take care and see you soon

Video Tour with Peter Graham ROI

7th December 2020 2pm -  via The Mall Galleries website  www.mallgalleries.org.uk

A modern tradition of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition is the guided tour by member  Peter Graham given every year around the galleries.

However with this year’s exhibition being exclusively online, Peter is giving the tour via video:

Tune in to see Peter talk about eighty of the works in this year’s show, including paintings by long-established ROI members as well as pieces by non-member artists selected from open submission.

Peter Graham is one of Britain’s foremost Modern Colourists and a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. His own work is related to the modern Scottish school of painters, but Peter has a flamboyant style which is unique – detailed brushwork combined with looser fluid strokes creating vibrant contrasts of pure colour, line and tone. Peter lives and works in Glasgow.

'Contemporary Still Lifes', published in The Artist

I am delighted to give you a preview of  'Contemporary Still Lifes' - my new article published this month in 'The Artist' magazine (August 2020 Edition) - Written in Lockdown, the article explores painting subjects close to home. This has been good for the soul with still life possibilities coming from flowers in the garden.

'Peter Graham is a painter who draws his inspiration from his travels around Europe and America- sadly curtailed at the moment. But he and now we can dream of what we are missing. Still life however becomes even more apt.. together these three painters represent Glasgow School of Art in its glorious years of the 1950s to 1970s.'
